Brunello Cucinelli built the house around a restored hamlet in Umbria, and the clothes carry that light: dust, stone and undyed wool rather than season colours. Cashmere is the centre of the collection, knitted locally and finished by hand.
The tailoring is deliberately soft — quarter-lined, lightly canvassed, cut to be worn over knitwear rather than over a shirt alone. Nothing carries a visible mark; the palette and the finish do the identifying.
The tell
The tell is the buttonhole: hand-rolled, very slightly uneven where the bar tack closes it, sitting on a cloth whose colour has been washed toward chalk rather than dyed toward it.
